Learn CPR

Imagine this scenario: you’re at a family gathering and someone has a heart attack. You see that person collapse to the ground, their face turns blue, and they stop breathing. What do you do?

CPR!

CPR is one of those things that everyone should know how to do in case of an emergency situation. CPR stands for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – it consists of chest compressions with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation or oxygen administration.

Northwest Career College offers free CPR certification classes to our students which will teach anyone how to perform CPR on others.

In this article, we’ll discuss why CPR is important and what benefits come from taking a CPR class such as Northwest Career College’s CPR classes.

What is CPR?

CPR is a life-saving technique that is used to help those who have stopped breathing due to an illness, injury, or as a result of drowning. CPR can also be given immediately after someone has had a heart attack and the person’s blood flow has been cut off from their brain.

CPR includes pushing air into a person’s lungs by using either your mouth or by using chest compressions, or a combination of both.

CPR helps to keep oxygenated blood flowing throughout the body until an AED can be used or emergency responders arrive.

While CPR is most commonly performed on adults, it still has benefits for children as well.

Even if a child’s heart stops beating after experiencing trauma like drowning, performing CPR will help circulate their blood and may prevent them from going into shock during treatment by first responders.

By pushing air in and out of a person’s lungs, you are helping provide much-needed oxygen so that the cells in their brain don’t die while waiting for medical professionals to treat them at the hospital.

Why Should You Learn CPR?

Taking a class such as Northwest Career College’s CPR classes not only teaches you how to perform these life-saving skills, but also gives you the chance to save the lives of your loved ones,

CPR is one of the most important things that you can do for someone who is not breathing or has no pulse.
