One of the many job duties of a Medical Administrative Assistant is scheduling and coordinating patient appointments. Receptionist responsibilities may be assigned to a Medical Administrative Assistant. This includes answering phones and greeting patients. Maintaining patient records, adding information as needed, and making sure appropriate patient forms are in order can also be part of a Medical Administrative Assistant’s duties. Additionally, Medical Administrative Assistants may be responsible for ordering supplies, bookkeeping, coordinating vendor services, and maintaining employee records.
Medical Administrative Assistants do not provide direct patient care. Instead, they have responsibilities such as clerical and office duties. In some small offices and clinics, Medical Administrative Assistants may do both clinical and administrative duties. But in most cases, responsibilities are divided into different jobs.
