Goal 1: Master Medical Office Administrative Skills.

  • Learn to oversee the maintenance of patients’ electronic medical records. They help ensure patient information (including medical histories, diagnostic test results, and treatment plans) is entered into the system accurately and promptly.
  • Utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems to accurately document patient information, ensuring that all medical data is up-to-date and easily accessible. Enhance clinical workflows by efficiently navigating EHR software to streamline patient care and administrative tasks.
  • Efficiently manage patient appointments, ensuring accurate scheduling and minimal wait times. Oversee front desk operations, including patient check-ins, handling inquiries, and maintaining a professional and welcoming environment.

Goal 2: Enhance Communication and Interpersonal Skills.

  • The medical Administrative Assistant must have good writing skills to prepare professional letters and memos, including medical correspondence for referral letters, medical reports, and internal messages exchanged among health professionals.
  • Develop practical communication skills with patients and other health professionals. This communication will be through powerful verbal and written words.

Externship Disclosures

Students may have to conform to additional requirements to participate in externship, such as:

  • Complete a background check.*
  • Complete a drug screening.*
  • Complete evening/weekend assignments.

NCC maintains liability insurance that offers coverage for any injuries a student may cause to an employee or patient of a clinical site while on externship. Coverage does not cover self-inflicted injuries sustained by the student.

*The cost of any background checks or drug screenings required by clinical sites are included in tuition.
