Congress recently passed the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a part of this bill, the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II was created to provide colleges and universities with Emergency Financial Aid Grants to be paid directly to students for “expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus”. These include eligible expenses under a student’s cost of attendance, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and childcare and payments towards tuition approved by all parties.
Northwest Career College has completed and submitted its application to receive the funds that were allocated to our institution by the Department of Education. Along with this application, the institution signed and returned a Certification and Agreement to the Department of Education stating that it intends to use no less than 100% of the of the funds received to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. The institution has received $ 1,164,273.00 in funding that will be used exclusively for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
As a result of this determination, all Northwest Career College students who have been formally accepted into their programs of study as of 01/22/2021 and whose Start Date was on or after July 1, 2020 will be automatically eligible to receive an equal allocation of Emergency Financial Aid Grants, as long as they are enrolled in an eligible Title IV program. Students that begin their program of study in between January – March of 2021 will also receive equal allocation of Emergency Financial Aid Grants.
Northwest Career College completed its Certification and Agreement and is required to disclose the total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students as of 30 days following receipt of these funds, and every 45 days thereafter. Furthermore, the institution is required to disclose the total number of students who are eligible to receive these grant funds. This information is listed below:
30 day distribution percentage: 100% Total students eligible for Emergency Financial Aid Grants: 1087
All eligible students have received emails notifying them of their eligibility to receive an Emergency Financial Aid Grant. Any student who is not in contact with Northwest Career College within 90 days from the institution’s first attempt to contact them will forfeit their eligibility to receive these funds.
We hope that you and your family are staying safe and healthy during this time, and we look forward to seeing you all back on campus soon.
Sincerely,
The NCC Executive Team
