Medical Assistant FAQ

Q. What are the differences between the Medical Assistant program at the Henderson location and others?f

The great thing about Northwest Career College is that the same lesson plans are used at all of our locations, ensuring you receive the highest-quality training experience wherever you enroll. That said, the Medical Assistant program at the Henderson location has smaller class sizes than our Las Vegas location. If you are looking for more one-on-one attention during your lab sessions, the Henderson location may be perfect for you!

We provide hands-on training in administrative skills (e.g., use of Electronic Medical Records, patient scheduling, medical billing), general clinical skills (e.g., medical history and chief complaints, vital signs, assisting with exams and CLIA-waived tests), and specialty clinical skills (e.g., assisting with minor surgical procedures, assisting with specialty exams and diagnostic tests). We also place an emphasis on professionalism in the workplace, as this is one of the key elements our graduates have a great reputation with our employer partners.

Medical Assistant graduates from Henderson get access to the same amazing Career Services support as graduates from our other locations. Medical Assistant students meet their in-school Career Services advisor approximately halfway through their program, who will help them with resume writing and interview preparation. They have a dedicated Externship Manager who monitors their progress while out in the field on Externship. Once they complete Externship, the Medical Assistant graduates will work with their Graduate advisor to update their resume and apply for jobs based on their interests in the field.

Absolutely! NCC knows how important it is for our students to maintain access to a regular paycheck while attending college. Many of our students have families and children to support, but even for those who don't, we have worked hard to provide flexible scheduling options for our students. Many students pursue their new career while working full-time or part-time jobs.

Yes! While NCC cannot and does not guarantee its students will obtain employment in their field of study after they graduate, NCC can guarantee its graduates will have access to job placement assistance upon successful completion of their program. All graduates are assigned a Career Services advisor who helps them with updating their resume after externship, practicing their interview skills, and applying for jobs. Advisors also provide Medical Assistant graduates with direct referrals for job interviews whenever possible.
